Dublin Tourist Attractions - The centre of Irish life and its capital is Dublin. This beautiful city is located close to the eastern coast of the island near the River Liffet’s mouth. It is an ever expanding city and sprawls out from Dublin Bay. There are plenty of tourist attraction in Dublin to explore during you visit.

Dublin was once a Celtic village until it became a Viking settlement and has prospered for hundreds of years to present day. You can still see the many remnants from the past in many of the buildings in the city. It has become of the most visited cities in Europe for culture and adventure. There are just under two millions residents living in Dublin and its environs.

Because of its location on the coast the city has built up a maritime reputation as the country’s major port city for exports. Dublin is also Ireland’s manufacturing centre and is home to many manufacturing entities including the Guinness Brewery.

The city has a rich educational heritage and is home to one of the oldest universities in the European Union, the University of Dublin which is over four hundred years old. Trinity College is another institution that is found in the city and the library there is home to the famous 'Book of Kells' which was transcribed by Celtic Monks over a thousand years ago.

Dublin is also known for its literary history as some of the better known and famous literary minds have come from the city. George Bernard Shaw and Samuel Beckett are among the literary minds from Dublin.
